Summer Holiday 2017 – Davy Crocket Ranch

Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch

We have now visited Disney Paris three times in the last four years, yes we love it that much. Each time we have visited we have stayed at the Davy Crocket Ranch, not only is it cost effective for us to do so, but it also offers so much for families.

At the Davy Crocket Ranch you are able to unearth your adventurous side with a stay in a log cabin in the heart of nature.

Whilst enjoying our stay we were able to discover a large swimming pool complex complete with a slide and massage pools, nature walks and a whole host of other exciting things.

Staying at the Ranch also meant that we were just a 5 minute drive from the Disney Parks and also because we were staying at a Disney resort we were able to enjoy up to 2 extra Magic Hours in certain parts of the Disneyland Park.

This year we booked directly through Disney, and our deal offered us 2 extra days’ tickets for the park and half board stay at no extra cost.

The Davy Crocket resort offers families …..

  • A Relaxing Setting. Where you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of a nature retreat

  • Total Flexibility.

An individual parking place is available in front of your log cabin and you can use your car whenever you wish to drive to the parks. Cabins can accommodate up to 6 people and offer a fully equipped kitchen.

  • Cabin Choices

You can choose between Premium Plus cabins, Trapper cabins or Pioneer cabins. To be honest, we have upgraded previously, but on our three visits I cannot tell you what the differences between each cabin were. The cabins are identical and the only variation seems to be the location to the main ranch complex.

All cabins we have seen have contained ….

2 bedrooms, the 1st bedroom containing 1 double bed and the second bedroom, 2/3 single beds with a pull out 3rd/4th bed

Main living area, with a small yet fully equipped kitchen

Outside eating space and BBQ

  • Dining

Crockett’s Tavern: Feast with Pioneers

Here you can make a stop at Crockett’s Tavern, where hunters, trackers and travellers of all sizes can graze on as much meats, fish, salads and desserts as they’d like.

If you visit at as a half board resident as we did, meals are free (the bill at one point came to over 150 euros for one evening meal so quite a saving). When we arrived for our first meal of our stay, we discovered a fabulous array of dishes for adults including starters, mains and desserts, there was also a child friendly menu available, and although the child friendly menu did only consist of a choice of chicken or fish nuggets this was perfect for my little ones.

Prior booking at the Tavern is a must as the queues were quite lengthy. We pre-booked 30 days before our visit using the telephone number provided. The only downside to pre-booking is that we found that we felt constrained and sometimes had to cut things short to be back on time. But saying that we were over an hour late for one of our 8pm bookings as we went for a swim, but they are so relaxed at the resort that that, didn’t seem to matter and space was available.

  • Recreation

The pool at Davy Crockett Ranch is fabulous. Here you can take a dip and relax in the Hotel’s very own heated indoor pool. Gently paddle around or enjoy some lengths in between trips to the Parks. Little splasher’s will love the Davy Crockett-themed pool with its decorative rocks, a wooden bridge and a slide, whilst adults can just float and relax amongst surroundings straight from the wild.

Boutique: Alamo Trading Post. Here you can pick up some of your Disney trinkets and even something to make a bite to eat at your cabin.

What we thought of our stay at Davy Crockets

During this visit to Davy Crockets we seemed to have had the most problems with the cabin. We had to call maintenance as the double bed had a leg broken, and one of the single beds slats was broken too. We also later discovered that the fridge/freezer didn’t work as didn’t the outdoor light and several of the indoor ones, and the decking area outdoors (which was also the entrance to the cabin) was also extremely slippery when wet.

But even with these problems at the end of the day we only used the cabin as a place to rest our head, the beds were fixed within the hour of reporting and we were half board so really had no need for the fridge/freezer, if we had stayed in the cabin any longer than just to sleep I think we would have felt more put out by the repairs needed. During any of our previous visits we had not encountered any problems with the accommodation so this may have just been one cabin that slipped through the net, as there is lots of expansion work being carried out on the site at the moment and staff are extremely busy.

Overall the site offers so much, there is a lot to see and for children to do. If we were to visit again we would book Davy Crockets as it does offer real value for money, especially being a family of 2 adults and 3 children.
